Single cable rear brake is used for running a single cable or a gyro set-up where the 2 lower gyro cables merge into a single unit, which is clamped onto a straddle cable. Twin cable rear brake is for a gyro set-up which has twin lower cables, where each cable is clamped directly to a brake arm (i.e. no straddle cable).
